Hafford volunteer fire department attended a house fire Sunday afternoon. The house was located near Highway 40 just a few kilometers east of the correction corner, which is three kilometers west of Jesse Road. Susanne Murphy and her husband saw the blaze, saying the house was fully engulfed in flames at around 3:30 p.m. There was burned grass all around, she said and the fire crossed a gravel road and burned grass there. Murphy says when they passed the site on their way home around 7:30 p.m. it appeared the house had burned completely to rubble but other buildings were untouched. A drive north revealed a large expanse of grass area and the lower branches of trees burned. The Regional Optimist was unable to reach the Hafford fire chief prior to press time for further details.
