Speeder clocked at 170 km/h in Battlefords

A motorist has been charged with two counts under the Traffic Safety Act for speeding at a dangerous 170 kilometres per hour on a Battlefords area highway.

The woman was arrested after going past an unmarked RCMP car operated by a uniformed RCMP officer, on Highway 16 outside North Battleford, in the 110 kilometres per hour zone. She was observed speeding on the double-lane highway through moderate morning traffic.

The woman was charged with driving in excess of 50 kilometres per hour over the speed limit and driving without reasonable consideration for others.

RCMP are advising motorists that police often implement unconventional techniques in identifying traffic offences and should take caution when considering breaching the posted speed limits for a highway.
