Retiree fund benefits community facilities

June Draude, minister responsible for Sask. Housing Corporation, and Don Allen, president of Sask. Housing, presented Ken Tanchak with a 25-year award May 14 in Regina.

Eileen Fountain, CIBC retiree of Radisson branch, presented a cheque for $300 to Don Harris, Chairman of the Radisson Communiplex Committee Inc, to be used towards the cost of the main floor resurfacing that was recently completed.

Doreen Froom, Radisson CIBC retiree presented a cheque for $250 to Doris Hamp, treasurer of Radisson Curling Club to be used toward curling rink costs. Doreen volunteers regularly all winter at the Radisson Curling Rink.

Borden School athletes did well at the Prairie Spirit Conference 3,000m run at Martensville May 16 and at track events at Griffith Stadium on May 17. A total of 33 out of 39 students in Grades 6 – 12 placed in top eight to advance to districts. The district 3,000m run was May 24 at Martensville and track and field at Griffiths May 25.

From May 30 to June 1st  the Borden Grade 11 and 12 outdoor education students are travelling to Meadow Lake to participate in canoeing, hiking, fishing and learning general survival skills.

Ken Tanchak, who has been a volunteer on the Borden Housing Authority Board for  more than 25 years, was recognized at a special luncheon in Regina May 14th, when June Draude, minister responsible for Sask. Housing Corporation, and Don Allen, president of Sask. Housing presented Ken with an engraved set of coasters.
