Dollars for scholars back

Parkland College is pleased to announce the Dollars for Scholars Golf Classic is back for a seventh straight year. Thanks to the generous support of local businesses, community groups, and individuals, the fundraising event is scheduled to take place on Friday, June 22 at Deer Park Golf Course in Yorkton.

Proceeds from golfer entry fees and business sponsorships go to the Parkland College scholarship fund. Last year’s event raised nearly $19,000 for local students enrolled in a wide variety of programs at Parkland College’s five campuses.

“It’s a fun day of golfing for a great cause,” said Dollars for Scholars co-chair Brendan Wagner. “It’s a significant part of our scholarship initiative, and the continued success of this event means more students can benefit.”

From humble beginnings, the Dollars for Scholars Golf Classic continues to grow. With support from the community, each event has raised more money than the year before. That’s a trend Parkland College wants to continue, Wagner said.

The event has a capacity of 36 teams of four golfers each, but spaces are filling up quickly. There is also room for more sponsors in a range of donation levels. Anyone interested in participating in the seventh annual Dollars for Scholars Golf Classic can contact Parkland College at 1.866.783.6766, by email at dollarsforschol...@parklandcollege.sk.ca, or visit a campus in Yorkton, Melville, Fort Qu’Appelle, Esterhazy, and Canora.
