She is inspired by her hometown.
Noelle Nikas is designing a line of promotion items for Humboldt that will be sold at Brick House Clothing in the city.
Nikas grew up in Humboldt. After graduating from Humboldt Collegiate Institute Nikas moved to Vancouver where she attended the John Casablancas Fashion Institute, receiving her Fashion Merchandising Diploma and the Emily Carr University, receiving a Bachelor of Design.
Since then, Nikas has designed items such as T-shirts, baby onsies, bibs, journals, tote bags, button pins, greeting cards, water bottles and jewelry.
“Last summer, I added fabric to my product line,” said Nikas. “At the moment, fabric design, I must say is my favourite medium in which to work.”
When Lana Muggli, co-owner of Brick House Clothing, asked to carry some of Nikas products in her store, she was inspired to design a line of tote bags specifically for the City.
“In collaboration with Lana (Muggli), we decided that tote bags would be a great product for her to carry in her store,” said Nikas. “They are useful and earth friendly. I then put forth the idea of having the tote bags being Humboldt  themed.”
Muggli thought it was a great idea and Nikas went to work on creating some unique designs for Humboldt.
“There are so many amazing people that live in Humboldt,” said Nikas. “This is just a little tribute to all those fantastic people in Humboldt who have affected my life over the years.”
There are four distinct limited edition designs in the collection that all celebrate Humboldt, explained Nikas. The totes are  made of 100 per cent organic cotton.  
She was very excited to be able to design a collection for her hometown.
Nikas explained that she often used her time growing up in Humboldt as inspiration, so to design something specifically for the city was a dream come true.
“(It is) completely awesome,” said Nikas. “It’s one more thing checked off my list of things I always dreamed of doing.”
