Truck demolished in crash

A half-ton truck was totaled Tuesday after colliding with a semi hauling two hopper cars at about 1:45 p.m. on Highway 40 approximately 11 kilometres east of North Battleford.

North Battleford Fire and Emergency Services report the truck moved into the oncoming lane and collided with the semi, resulting in a spill of about 50 to 75 litres of diesel fuel from the semi’s ruptured tank. The spill covered the highway and spilled into the south ditch and an adjacent field.

The driver of the half-ton was transported to Battlefords Union Hospital with unknown injuries, reports NBFES. The semi driver was uninjured.

Firefighters remained on the scene to clean up the fuel spill and debris.

Firefighters also assisted at a crash at the intersection of 102nd Street and 14th Avenue Tuesday. The collision was described as minor with no injuries reported.
