RCMP say the debris pictures is Discarded chemicals and waste from meth production.

RCMP have raided what they describe as a clandestine methamphetamine production operation in Medstead.

As a result of a raid on a residence in the village Tuesday, Scott Anderson, 43, of Medstead is facing charges of  production of methamphetamine under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and breach of an undertaking, which is a Criminal Code offence.

Anderson made his first court appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court Thursday.

The police a search of the residence located on 2nd Avenue in Medstead turned up items RCMP say are connected to methamphetamine production. A second search, conducted south of Medstead at a mobile home, resulted in the seizure of other items in relation to the production of the the substance.

The F Division Clandestine Laboratory Response Team, with members specially trained in the dismantling of such labs throughout the province, was assisted in the 11 a.m. raid by members from Turtleford and Glaslyn detachments. The unit is not an investigative team, but a response team that ensures both public and peace officer safety.

Sgt. Ken Lang of the Turtleford RCMP advises the public to report any suspicious activity regarding clandestine labs to their local police service or RCMP detachment.  Signs of a clandestine lab include strong ammonia smell, an abundance of chemical containers and the presence of chemicals without a known purpose, Lang explains.
