Rhein 4-H completes 10th year

4-H Achievement Day

Our 10th year has come to an end with our annual Achievement Day. It was held on a sunny day at the Zrudlo farm near Stornoway on July 14. The members arrived at noon to set-up; the judges came at 12:30.

We had 8 members in our club for the 2011-12 year. Each member is to complete a project book and project to be displayed and judged at Achievement Day. Our Cloverbud members came from Buchanan. They covered the material in Unit 1 which was; outdoor adventure, beef, sheep, safety at home and gardening. Intermediate and senior members did mechanics/small engine, woodworking and welding. The motto for 4-H is "Learn to Do by Doing" this shows in each of the projects and activities our members took on this year.

This year the mechanic/small engine members worked on cars and did oil changes.

Welding and woodworking were combined as they welded the frame for a picnic table and did the top in woodworking.

At 3:00 p.m. guests arrived and we had our program with Certificates and gifts presented to our members. We would like to thank our leaders and parents for all their time and help this past year.

To end the day we had a BBQ which everyone enjoyed eating and visiting at the new picnic tables.
