Scottish Premier League to remain on Fox but limited to secondary network

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Scottish Premier League will remain on Fox in the United States following the relegation of Glasgow Rangers but broadcasts will be limited to the secondary network Fox Soccer Plus and the Internet.

Fox announced in March it will televise the SPL through the 2013-14 season and intended to televise some Old Firm derby matches between Celtic and Rangers on Fox Soccer. Rangers were demoted to the fourth tier after going into bankruptcy.

Says Fox Soccer executive vice-president David Nathanson: "Despite recent events, in accordance with the terms of our agreement, Fox Soccer will continue to broadcast the best matches from the Scottish Premier League on its platforms, including Fox Soccer Plus and FOXSoccer2Go."

The SPL season opens Saturday, with Celtic vs. Aberdeen televised on Fox Soccer Plus. Fox Soccer is available in about 41 million and Fox Soccer Plus is a premium channel with a smaller reach.
