Local artist Deanna Brown has created a pencil drawing of a Humboldt Broncos player with angel’s wings that has been gaining international attention.

Brown drew the tribute as a gift for a friend, who knew a lot of the victims of the Humboldt Broncos bus accident that left 16 people dead and 13 more injured.

Brown shared the drawing on Facebook, and it quickly went viral.

It has been profiled on such websites as TSN’s BarDown, and has been shared on Tom Cochrane’s Facbook page.

“I have received … personal messages from people all over North America. They have been sending me pictures of where they have put it, either in their home or their place of business, or they have put it as decals on their cars. It’s a little overwhelming.”

Brown believes she has responded to about 3,500 e-mails from people looking for prints since Sunday afternoon. The drawing is available on her website as a free download.

“As of this morning, I think I saw an update that a little more than 5,000 people have downloaded it now,” said Brown.

The original drawing has been sent to the Humboldt Broncos hockey team.

Brown was very pleased with how it turned out, and she said her friend loved it, too.

This week's edition of Southeast Lifestyles will have more on this story.
