Estevan's new fire chief announced

Shane Code of Coldstream, B.C., obtains vacant leadership role.

A report from the City of Estevan revealed a national search for a new fire chief has concluded and Shane Code will be filling that role for the Estevan Fire Department on Nov. 17.

Code is the fire chief of the Coldstream, B.C. fire department, which functions as a paid-on-call service. He is also the superintendent of B.C. ambulance where he manages their services and instructs first medical responder primary care paramedic programs.

The veteran fire fighter is an instructor for both the Vernon Fire Training Centre and Justice Institute of B.C. He also holds the position of vice-chair of the North Okanagan Regional Fire Chief’s Association.

According to the report, Code has a Master of Arts in leadership and training and has 13 years of experience in paid-on-call fire services along with 15 years of EMS management.
