Envision Counselling and Support Centre’s International Women’s Day initiative was a great success, with people participating in a video campaign.

Juli Dzuba, who is the community outreach co-ordinator with Envision, said she was very happy with how the campaign worked out.

“We got a good response from the community as far as our video is concerned. We had about 25 people participate through pictures or videos. We just put them all together and posted them online and we have had great success with people reposting and sending things in. It’s been great to see a lot of people come out to support International Women's Day,” said Dzuba.

“The highlight of the event was seeing the feedback from the community and how many young people are interested in pressing for progress and changes for the future. We had women’s and girls’ sports teams that wanted to participate, which was wonderful.”

International Woman’s Day happens every year on March 8, and Envision has a different event or initiative each year to mark the occasion. Dzuba was involved with organizing the local campaign and helping out with the video.

“Each year a different theme happens and this year it was Press for Progress, so we decided to create this hashtag Press for Progress, and we thought it would be a good way get young people involved as well to reach more people in your community,” said Dzuba.

Press For Progress has a lot of meaning for Dzuba, who described it as helping with equality.

“Press for Progress means just trying to figure out what you can do to make changes in your everyday lives throughout the world to help equality take place,” said Dzuba.

“I think what we did was very successful because we had a lot of people from the community get involved,” she added.

This was the first time Envision had a complete online platform for International Women’s Day. It was experimental for Dzuba but she said it worked out well.

“As far as Envision is concerned, this was our first ever online video campaign. It was the first time we have ever made a video and also asked our community to really help out and we got great feedback,” said Dzuba.
