The Service Employees International Union (SEIU-West) has served notice to the South East Cornerstone Public School Division that they will commence strike action against the division as of 11 a.m. Wednesday.

“We contacted their negotiating committee this morning and they expressed no interest in going back to the negotiation table,” said Barbara Cape, SEIU-West president.

The union will be conducting full strike action, she said. It will not be a case of rotating strikes or work-to-rule activities.

SEIU represents approximately 250 employees who provide support services to the school division in such positions as education assistants, bus drivers, maintenance and custodial services as well as administrative assistants, library technicians and cafeteria/kitchen staff.
