Gus Wilker

The family of Gus Wilker sadly announce his passing on October 26, 2006 after a long and courageous battle to overcome the devastation of a massive brain aneurysm.

Then just a couple of weeks short of eighty years, the Lord took him home as he was growing very weary of the fight and not getting any better.

Gus was a self-made man and had many talents. He did all his own carpentering, electrical and plumbing, also his own mechanical work. He moved buildings and he also built them. He was a heavy equipment operator and had all his certificates. Farming was in his blood also.

I don?t think there?s room to tell all the things there are to tell about this very hard working man, except to say that whatever he took on, he did to the very best of his ability.

Gus loved his family and showed it by all the help he gave us. He wasn?t big with idle chatter, but when he spoke, it was worth listening to.

He loved to dance and he and his sister Doreen were two of the best in the community.

He loved big game hunting and went whenever he could. He also enjoyed going out for coffee with his friends and liked playing games.

Gus was born January 5, 1935 on his parents? home quarter S. 13, Two 25, Range 21, W2 in the Strasbourg, Sask., area. He received his education at Mount Hill and was the ninth child in a family of 11 children.

Gus leaves to mourn his loving wife of 44 years, Connie; two children, Dale (Wendy), Brenda (Bob); four grandchildren, Shaun, Karly, Clayton and Callie; sisters, Doreen, Estevan, Sask.; Mary, Whitby, Ont.; Sophie, Strasbourg, Sask.; sister-in-law, Louise, Strasbourg, Sask.; brothes, Joe (Net) Vernon, B.C., Carl (Noreen), Strasbourg, Sask., Ed (Joyce) Strasbourg; two brothers-in-law and their families, and two sisters-in-law and their families; also many, many nieces and nephews.

Gus was predeceased by his infant son Dean, 1969; Father, 1941; Mother, 1982; sister Elizabeth, 1928; brother, Jake, 1980; sister, Rose, 1997; sister, Agnes, 2006; Stepfather Godfrey, 1961; and five brothers-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
