Emily was born on January 21, 1926 in Torquay, Sask., and moved to Tribune in the spring of 1927 where she received her education. After attending Normal School in Regina, she taught for two years at the Berdahl School. On May 14, 1945 she married Andrew Wingert and settled on the family farm southwest of Estevan, where she enjoyed gardening, helping on the farm, and entertaining family and friends. Emily loved to cook and loved to serve her family dinner or supper next to a tractor or combine during busy times on the farm. Emily was always eager to bake a pie or square for a fundraiser or church function. Her homemade bread, buns and pies were always a favourite of her grandchildren.

After 44 years on the farm, Andrew and Emily retired to Estevan where their daily routine involved a drive around town or in the country, and going for coffee with family and friends.

The Prayer Vigil was held at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 22 from the Chapel of Orsted Funeral Home, Estevan.
