The Honourable Mr. Justice Donald Keith Krueger, Court of QueenÕs Bench for Saskatchewan, born March 21, 1936, Huntoon, Saskatchewan, died peacefully May 7, 2007, St. PaulÕs Hospital, Saskatoon.
Funeral services were held at St. VitalÕs Church, Battleord, on Saturday, May 12, 2007, 10:00 a.m., with private family burial following in Swift Current. Prayers were said at 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 11, at St. VitalÕs Church.
Don received his early education at schools in the Huntoon area before moving with his family to Estevan in 1949. He graduated from Estevan Collegiate in 1955.
Attending University of Saskatchewan 1955-59, he graduated with his degree in Law. After completing articles with Shepherdson and Newsome, Estevan, he was called to the Saskatchewan Bar in August 1961. He began his practice of law in Swift current, Sask., with the firm of Donnelly and Polley.
He married Pat Mulvena of Assiniboia, Sask., in October 1961. He and Pat made Swift Current their home for 33 years, raising a family of five children. The old law firm went through many name changes over the years as the partnership changed. Don was senior partner of Krueger, McLaughlin, Forrester and Heinrichs when he was appointed a judge of the Court of QueenÕs Bench, the Battlefords in November 1994. His designation as QueenÕs Counsel was received in 1986.
DonÕs years in Swift Current were marked by community service to his family, community and profession, including years as a member of St. PatrickÕs Separate School Board, Western Savings and Credit Union Board of Directors, Swift Current City Council, Southwest Bar Association and the Law Society of Saskatchewan, to mention a few. A dedicated husband and father, Don supported his family in their many activities, putting in tours of duty at such places as band halls, ball diamonds, hockey rinks, basketball courts and swimming pools.
He was predeceased by his parents, Henry (1961), Esther (1999); brothers Harley (1934) and Wayne (1990).
He is survived by his wife, Pat; daughters, Holly (Dave Jamieson) and son Danny, Edmonton; Jan (Mark Marcenko) and children Dexter, Matilda and Desmond, Howden, Tasmania; Nat (Doug Strom) and daughter, Mollie, Prince Albert; Richard and Roberta, Pembroke, Ontario; and Monte (Bridge) and children, Declan and Astrid, Edmonton. Also left to mourn his passing are sisters, Shirley (Gordon Petterson), Manor, Sask., Lynn (Henry Hokanson), Calgary; Ruth Martin, Medicine Hat, as well as a host of extended family, friends and colleagues.
