Rose Arlene McLeod

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Rose McLeod after a life well-lived.

Rose was born on March 20, 1910, to Leo and Annie Reiser of Halbrite, Sask. She was the first of the Reiser family to be born in Canada after their immigration from the United States.

Rose was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Frank, George, Tony, John, Bernard, Albert, and Leo; sisters, Mary, Katie, Emma and Annie.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her daughter, Shirley, Regina, Sask.; much loved sister, Agnes Allen, Regina, Sask.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Reiser, Brockville, Ont., as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

School days were at Sunnyside School, through correspondence and in Halbrite for high school. She worked for a family in McTaggart for two years and then moved to Macoun in 1931 to join the Ern Steele family. She loved working for Frank Dwyer in Macoun Trading Co. Ð talking to the children and helping people fill their orders.

In 1942 she and J.W.C. (Scotty) McLeod were married, and farm life became her next career Ð feeding harvesters, growing a huge garden, canning and milking cows. She loved it all. In 1976 they purchased a home in Regina and made the transition to city life. Scotty had congestive heart failure and passed away in 1977. Rose continued gardening, working on her hobby projects, and traveling with Shirley. She enjoyed the holidays across Canada, California, Florida, Mexico, and Hawaii.

As Rose requested, there will not be a funeral; however, a graveside service in Macoun Cemetery will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. with a reception to follow at the Macoun Drop-In Centre.

If family and friends so wish, donations made be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 2360 - 2nd Ave., Regina, S4R 1A6, or to the Regina Humane Society, P.O. Box 3143, Regina, S4P 3G7.

Many thanks to family and friends for their care and compassion through this very difficult time, to our ÒangelsÓ who were with us to the end, to Hillsdale Medical Clinic and Doctor McMeekin-Down, and to Regina QuÕAppelle Homecare.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, SK (306) 842-5432.
