Peter farmed and sold Smith-Roles in the Benson and surrounding area and spent his retirement years in Estevan. Peter liked to camp and for the past several years spent many weekends at Mouse River with friends and family. As a family we enjoyed gathering together for special occasions or just for coffee which almost always ended with a card game. Even during these past few years when Dad was experiencing signs of progressive Alzheimer's we were able to spend some quality time together which we will always treasure in our memory.

During these times in our lives we all truly appreciate all the extra special acts of kindness and care shown. From the many visits, the phone calls and the abundance of food brought to our houses to the random acts of kindness shown, we say thanks. We also express our gratitude for your presence at the services and for the special prayers offered because you were unable to be with us in person.

Although we risk missing someone by naming names, we do wish to publicly acknowledge: Boires Funeral Home, Dr. Sheikh and Dr. Steenkamp, St. Joseph Hospital staff including Alisha from Pastoral Care and the staff on Unit A - Palliative Care, Bob Stendall, Doug Third for sharing his gift of leadership, Father Lorne Crozon, the CWL for the lunch, and to the Beefeater Family for their generosity. We would also like to thank Kevin for preparing and reading the Eulogy, Nathan, Evanne, Arlene, Mark, Ali, Trevor and Anita for providing the special music, the honorary pall bearers Lloyd and Cecile Smith, John and Marg Fowler, Rene and Mary Van De Woestyne, Julie Carriere, Carol Kennedy, as well as the acting pall bearers, grandsons Chad (even though he was unable to make it in person, we know his spirit was with us), Mike, Jason, Jeremy, Brad, Nathan, Shawn, Mark, Curt and Trevor, and the granddaughters Jennifer, Michelle, Ali and Tyra for reading the scripture and prayers.

If friends so desire donations in memory of Peter may be given to Canadian Cancer Society and/or Estevan Palliative Care. Sincerely, Norma (Mom), Brenda, Joanne, Margaret, Barry, Mel and Murray and their extended families.
