Maxine Ruth Stevenson

The ashes of Maxine Ruth Stevenson were placed in Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn, Sask., on September 1, 2007. She passed away at home in Estevan, Sask., on April 6, 2007, aged 65 years.

Maxine is survived by her loving husband John Lawrence Stevenson (44 + years), and her loving children and their families: Daughter Peggy Stevenson (Craig Milliken) and grandson Logan of DeWinton, Alta.; daughter Nancy (Danial) Harris and grandsons Brooks and Garrett of Duchess, Alta.; son Kenneth Stevenson of Gravelbourg, Sask. Maxine is survived by only sibling, Patricia (Brian) Hall of Winnipeg, Man., nephews Scott (Della) Hall and sons Tyler and Riley, Chris (Kim) Hall and sons Rhett and Ryan. Also survived by sister-in-law Joan Jacobson of Weyburn and nephews Warren (Cherie) Jacobson and daughter Alexis of Tisdale, Sheldon (Bonnie) Jacobson and daughters Olivia and Drew of Wakaw, Trevor (Cathy) Jacobson and daughter Hanna of Prince Albert; brother-in-law Bruce (Mary) Stevenson of Winnipeg, her only niece, Cheryl (Dean) Jones and son Matthew, nephew Brent (Lana) Stevenson and daughter Marysa.

Maxine is predeceased by her mother Edna Campbell Stevenson and father Kenneth Campbell, father-in-law and mother-in-law Burton and Evelyn Stevenson, and brother-in-law Larry Jacobson.

Maxine was born in Indian Head, Sask., raised and took schooling in Fort Qu'Appelle, Sask. She obtained her CNA designation in Saskatoon and was employed at Royal University Hospital.

Maxine and John were married at Christ Church Anglican Saskatoon and obtained her PHT degree (putting hubby through) when John obtained his Engineering Degree. They lived in various communities in Saskatchewan, including Regina, Huntoon, Estevan, and Coronach. While in Regina, Maxine worked as an advocate for various Native projects, in Estevan was president of Estevan Speech and

Hearing Society, and was a long standing member of Beta Sigma Phi in Coronach.

Maxine died from complications caused by Myotonic Dystrophy (Muscular Dystrophy), a disease which she had from birth.

Memorial services were conducted April 10th from St. Giles Anglican Church with Rev. Michael Sinclair officiating.
