Mary Ehrmantraut passed away at the Estevan Regional Nursing Home on September 1, 2007 at the age of 102 years. Funeral services were held at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church on September 5 with Father Lorne Crozon as celebrant.
Mary is survived by her family, Marie Bonokoski, Rose Ehrmantraut, Frances (Bert) Dreher, Matt (Bette), Irene (Earl) Craig, Lawrence (Janet); 31 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren, 23 great great grandchildren. \
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Anton (1969), her parents, Vincent and Katherine Schell, daughter, Gertrude (1926), son, George (1991), son-in-law, Martin Bonokoski (2000), 3 grandsons, 1 great granddaughter, 1 great great grandson, 8 brothers, 5 sisters.
Mary was born to parents Vincent and Katherine Schell on March 19, 1905, at Benson, Northwest Territories, before Saskatchewan became a province. She was the youngest of 14 children. She married Anton on July 27, 1925, at Marienthal Catholic Church, south of Torquay, Sask. The early years were agricultural based. Later they operated a general store and eventually a farm machinery business in Torquay. Change in technology didn't seem threatening to Mary. These she accepted, as she did each of her family members in a kind, patient, non-judgmental manner.
Mary played many, many card games with young and old. Who will ever forget her "quickness"? She liked being active and participated in sports-bowling, until her mid eighties. Mary was an active member of the Catholic Women's League (many of the 55 years), and also the Over 60 Club.
