The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins season came to an end on Tuesday night in a 6-1 loss to the Battlefords North Stars at Affinity Place.

Battlefords swept the best-of-seven series in four games, and outscored the Bruins 23-8. Thirteen of the Stars 23 goals in the series were scored in the first period. And the Stars never trailed in the series.

Connor Logan opened the scoring 3:14 into the first period for the Stars. Coby Downs doubled the lead just over four minutes later, and Layne Young scored on a power play with 7:54 to play in the first to give his team a 3-0 advantage.

Keaton Holinaty scored twice in the second period to extend the lead to five.

Michael McChesney's goal at the 8:14 mark of the third put the Bruins on the board, but Jared Blaquiere put an exclamation mark on the seires with a goal with 1:51 remaining in the game.

Curtis Meger played the first two periods of Game 4, and allowed five goals on 34 shots. Nathan Alalouf came in for the third period and allowed one goal on nine shots.

Stars goalie Joel Grzybowski stopped 31 of the 32 shots he faced.

The game was the last for the Bruins seven graduating players: Alalouf, defencemen Josh Rieger and Evan Scott, and forwards Lynnden Pastachak, Matt McNeil, Jason Miller and Levi Barnstable.

The Stars, meanwhile, have advanced to the SJHL's Canalta Cup final, and will play either the Flin Flon Bombers or the Nipawin Hawks.
