Missing three key forwards and a defencemen and with 15-year-old Alex Von Sprecken playing his first ever SJHL game on defence, the Power Dodge Estevan Bruins knocked off the Battlefords North Stars, the ninth ranked team in the CJHL, 4-3 at Affinity Place Saturday night.

Secondary scoring from TJ Irey, with two, and Jayden Davis was complemented by the winning goal from Zach Goberis at 15:53 of the third period in a tightly contested game for the Bruins’ third win in a row.

The Bruins were outshot 49-20 but still managed the victory thanks to some nifty, timely scoring by Estevan and 46 saves by the game’s first star, goaltender Bo Didur.

The Bruins’ next game is Wednesday at  7 p.m. at Affinity Place against the Weyburn Red Wings, a team they enjoy a seven point lead in the Viterra Division standings with seven games to go.
