Golden Eels set blistering pace in Weyburn

A full contingent from the Estevan Golden Eels Swim club ripped through the pool at a meet in Weyburn, dominating their age classes and disciplines.

A full contingent from the Estevan Golden Eels Swim club ripped through the pool at a meet in Weyburn, dominating their age classes and disciplines.

The Eels, competing in their first full meet of the season, won the high club point award of the meet with 604.5 points, far ahead of the Regina Piranhas at 324.5. A total of 28 of the 41 swimmers who went to the meet were able to place in the top three of an event. Many of these swimmers came home with medals, meaning they placed in the top three of their age category.

Those medal winners were Rachel Duncan (7-8 girls gold), Rowyn Siever (7-8 girls bronze), Marcus DeLeeuw (7-8 boys gold), Karson Mvula (7-8 boys silver), Jordyn Tarnes (9-10 girls gold), William Duncan (9-10 boys gold), Emily Tarnes (11-12 girls silver), Tristan Threinen (11-12 boys gold), Lucas Dzeryk (11-12 boys silver), Adah DeLeeuw (13-14 girls gold), Logan Marshall (13-14 boys bronze), Carson Wheeler (also 13-14 boys bronze), Teaghen Hack (15-17 girls gold), Jaiden Jocelyn (15-17 boys silver).

The Eels will next hit the pool competitively in Swift Current July 22 and Gravelbourg July 23.
