It was a big week for former members of the Estevan minor hockey system.

Carlyle hockey product Cale Fleury was selected in the third round, 87th overall by the Montreal Canadiens. Listed at 6'1, 201 pounds, he spent the 2011-12 season with the Estevan TS&M bantam AA Bruins before going to Notre Dame to play his second year of bantam and a season of midget AAA.

Cale is the brother of Haydn Fleury, a first round selection three years ago by the Carolina Hurricanes. Haydn just completed his first season of pro with the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL, scoring  seven goals and 19 assists for 26 points in 69 games.

The Ice's captain last season, Cale Fleury scored 11 goals and 27 assists for 38 points in 70 games.

In other local hockey news, Tanner Jeannot will be going to Washington Capitals development camp later this week. The current alternate captain of the Moose Jaw Warriors is originally from Oxbow.

Jeannot went to fall camp last year with the Minnesota Wild but as a free agent is able to choose where he goes to camp.

Jeannot, who is expected to be an overage forward this season, scored 19 goals and 33 assists for 52 points in 71 games for the Warriors last season, his third full season in the WHL.

Estevan's Brayden Pachal also earned an invitation to a development camp. The Ottawa Senators want to get a good look at the 18-year-old defenceman, who split the season with the Victoria Royals and the Prince Albert Raiders, scoring three goals and 12 assists for 15 points in 65 games.
