Artists need a good heads up and a head start if they are going to submit five pieces of work with a connecting theme for Estevan’s Adjudicated Art Show.

With that in mind, organizers have set the date for this year’s event to be held between November 10 and December 16 with the host facility again being the Estevan Art Gallery and Museum (EAGM).

Diana Chisholm, Estevan’s artist-in-residence was an easy choice for the Arts Council to make as this year’s adjudicator.

Chisholm grew up in Nova Scotia and now splits her time between Newfoundland and Labrado and Saskatchewan. She received a bachelor of fine arts degree from Grenfell Campus, Memorial University of Newfoundland and a master of fine arts degree from the University of Saskatchewan.

Chisholm has had solo exhibits at the Arts and Culture Centre in Cornerbrook, Newfoundland and the Gordon Snelgrove Gallery in Saskatoon. She has participated in group shows in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador and Saskatchewan as well as the 2012 BMO First Art Exhibition at the Museum for Canadian Contemporary Art in Toronto.

Chisholm has recently submitted some of her work in the project space at the EAGM while doing community outreach work for the local arts council as artist-in-residence. This fall she will begin a Saskatchewan mentorship program to pursue curatorial interests.

Brochures outlining the requirements for the local art show are available from the EAGM. The deadline for registration in the adjudicated show is Oct. 21.
