The Canadian Pacific Rail’s Holiday Train will be rolling in to Estevan on Sunday afternoon.

The train is scheduled to arrive Dec 16 at 3 p.m., and the performance will run from 3:15-3:45 p.m. It will stop east of CP station in Estevan and face Seventh Street.

The Trews and Willy Porter will be performing Christmas carols for the local fans.

People who attend the performance in Estevan are asked to bring a non-perishable food donation to the Estevan Salvation Army’s Food Bank.

Earlier in the day, the train will cross into Canada at North Portal at 11:45 a.m. The North Portal performance will be 12:00-12:30 p.m.

Once it is finished in Estevan, the train will continue onto Weyburn for a performance that evening. The Weyburn show will be the train’s final stop.

The Holiday Train has several brightly decorated rail cars each year.

CP Rail has both Canadian and U.S. versions of the train. The U.S. version, which will be the one stopping in Estevan, departed Montreal on Nov. 25; the Canadian version left Montreal two days later.

The trains entertain hundreds of thousands of people each year, and collect food and funds for food banks across North America. This year marks its 20th edition.

The CP Holiday Train program launched in 1999 and has since raised more than C$14.5 million and gathered 4.3 million pounds of food for communities along CP's routes in Canada and the United States.

To date, the Holiday Train program has raised over C$15 million for cardiac care and research.

People who attend the Holiday Train visit in Estevan are encouraged to take photos and enter CP's Capture the Spirit photo contest. Participants could win a trip aboard the 2019 CP Holiday Train and a $1,000 donation to their local food bank.
