A long-time musical group from southeast Saskatchewan has been nominated for a national award.

The Daae Family, who hail from the Bromhead area, is up for a Covenant Award for the top Country/Southern Gospel Album of the Year.

The nomination was announced Nov. 15.

The awards recognize the top Christian musicians in Canada each year.

The Daae family started as a six-member group in the 1990s with Wayne and Cathy Daae and their children Michael, Daniel, Amanda and Crystal. It has since grown to include spouses of the children and their kids, which means that three generations of the band take to the stage for shows.

While they have travelled extensively in their musical careers, they remain a favourite for local music fans as well, with numerous concerts in the southeast each year.
