Drewitz students take dance exams

Students from the Drewitz School of Dance, under the direction of Lorie-Gay Drewitz-Gallaway and her assistant instructor Hunter Hildebrand, were tested in tap, jazz and ballet exams, and for badges and medals.

Students from the Drewitz School of Dance, under the direction of Lorie-Gay Drewitz-Gallaway and her assistant instructor Hunter Hildebrand, were tested in tap, jazz and ballet exams, and for badges and medals.

The Canadian Dance Teachers’ Examinations are a professional dance syllabus taught by certified teachers across Canada. Children are examined in presentation, musicality and strong technical criteria. Exams took place in late January, and the results were received this month.

Examiners were Barbara Dearborn from Halifax and Gaetane Hughes from Mississauga, Ont.

For the jazz examinations, in advanced major, Reese Handley was highly commended.

In jazz badges and medals, in preliminary jazz badge, successful classifications went to Aliva Pulvermacher, Raelle Stenhouse, Summer Petersen, Allie Lainton, Aubree Drabek, Morgan Hase, Taylor Ellis, Sierra Mantei, Aspen Mayuk, Elizabeth Harmsworth, Gabby Ruf, Kennady Poole, Avery Talsma, Sophia Heidinger-Fornwald, Ava Mann, Julie Berg, Jaycee Mills, Gabrielle Deitz, Brooklynn Penney and Alivia Waldegger.

In pre-bronze jazz medal, Layla Kitz is an honours dancer, while Makenzie Onrait, Hunter McNabb, Miley Granberg and Peyton Irwin were highly commended.

Sydney Ross, Alexis Paton, Aurora McCutcheon, Paige Petersen, Rowyn Siever and Keeley Stenhouse were commended.

In bronze jazz medal, Marley Nashiem, Sadie Smith, Tyann Babyak, Randi Milbrandt, Ariadne Nagel, Katelyn Zukewich and Halle Adams earned honours. Kylie Armstrong, Samantha Carritt, Jayla Memory, Maya Sands, Alecia Wiebe, Lindsay Mack, Katelyn Conquergood and Scarlett Mercer were highly commended.

Commended status went to Ekko Sanguin, Mackenna Empey, Bryanna Morrow, Amarra Pine, Hailey Taylor, Brooklynn Ruzicka and Levi Stepp. Rya Strilaeff, Mercedes Irwin, Alyssa Saccary and Micaela Kocher were a pass plus.

In silver jazz medal, Jersey Long, Elsie Alexander, Shayla Gill, Kaitlin Milbrandt, Emily Phillips and Codie Lemcke earned honours. Madison Hrywkiw, Shayna Fichter, Kelsey Kowalchuk, Lyssa Strilaeff, Jenna Fleck and Tiana Seeman were highly commended, and Savanna Perry, Macey Menzies and Eva Salamon were commended.

In ballet examinations, for the ballet badges and enrichment, in preliminary ballet badge, Ella Smyth, Kayleigh Reed, Madison Zukewich, Charlie Walsh, Paris Irwin, Silver Gardiner, Rowan Grimes, Quinn Zahn, Keira Kessler, Natalie Currie, Sofia Carritt, Gabriela Moreno-Acosta, Avery Spenst, Everleigh Blanchette, Avianna Sacopon, Blaire Wilson, Delaney Tamblyn, Kristin Waloshin, Rylee Zabel, Makayla Robblee and Samantha Unite earned successful status.

In Grade 3 ballet enrichment, highly commended went to Randi Milbrandt, Marley Nashiem, Kylie Armstrong and Ariande Nagel.

In tap examinations, for advanced major, Reese Handley earned honours.

Jersey Long earned honours in silver medal, while highly commended went to Kailey Kowalchuk, Emily Phillips and Tiana Seeman.
Brielle Wakely and Macey Menzies were commended.
