The Estevan Public Library has a new acting branch manager.

Roxy Blackmore, who has been the adult program co-ordinator since January 2018, will be holding the position on a one-year contract basis.

Former manager Lucas Reid handed in his resignation mid-April, leaving the position vacant.

Kate-Lee Nolin, director of the Southeast Regional Library, said the decision was made through headquarters.

“Roxy brings with her great management experience. She is well connected in the community, has proven to be an excellent leader at our branch, and has a positive attitude and work ethic which will complement the position,” said Nolin.

Blackmore is excited for the opportunity.

“I was honored to have been asked to fill this position,” Blackmore said. “I hope to work closely with regional headquarters office, the City of Estevan, and the Estevan Public Library Board, to support the wonderful existing staff, and to continue to fulfill our mission to provide the residents of southeastern Saskatchewan with the resources and experiences that foster a lifetime of imagination, discovery and learning.”

Blackmore’s new position officially began April 29.
