The Souris Valley Museum offered a fun afternoon during its Family Day on Saturday afternoon.

Families dropped by so that young people could enjoy games, crafts and other activities. Sports were offered outdoors to the west of the museum’s building.

It was also a chance to launch the museum’s new sports-themed exhibit, which will be on display for the summer months. There are displays from the Estevan Comprehensive School Elecs sports teams, the Power Dodge Estevan Bruins and more. Many of the items are from the museum’s collection.

Also included in the exhibit are displays on Indigenous sports, items connected to sports such as instruments used in a marching band, and even the Estevan board game that was created as a fundraiser for the construction of St. Joseph’s Hospital in 1991.

The next edition of the Mercury will have more on this story.
