An Estevan woman has enjoyed excellent support in her first foray into the Inked Magazine Cover Girl contest.

Kyra Gessner currently sits second in her group, as of Tuesday evening. The deadline to vote for her in this round is 10 p.m. local time Thursday night.

If she finishes in the top 10, she will advance to the next round.

Gessner said she decided to enter in part because of the $25,000 grand prize, but she also saw some friends enter last year and thought the contest would be worth a try.

“I’ve seen Inked Magazine before, and I followed the contest last year, but I didn’t enter myself,” said Gessner.

She’s surprised and impressed to be doing as well as she has. Gessner has been sharing the contest link on her Facebook and Instagram pages every day, and has been trying to remind everyone she knows about the contest.

Gessner loves the creativity and the fun associated with tattoos, and how they add to people’s uniqueness.

“Nobody has the same tattoos as someone else,” said Gessner. “It’s just a cool way to express yourself.”
Gessner has compiled quite a few tattoos. There’s an arm sleeve and she’s working on a leg sleeve. Both sides of her ribs and her sternum have tattoos, and she also has one on her hipbone and one on her ankle.

“My first one was when I was 18 on my hipbone. It was just a key, and it says ‘honesty’ in the middle,” Gessner said.

If she were to win the contest, Gessner said she would pay off her bills and purchase a vehicle.

Her family and friends have been very supportive during contest.
