Members of the SaskExpress live theatre group will bring their summer tour, Circus of Life, to Woodlawn Regional Park’s Boundary Dam Beach Site on Aug. 16, with a free show starting at 7 p.m.

Circus of Life features the talents of 13 young people from across the province. The show takes a traditional three-ring circus and twists it to examine the mysteries, heroes, ecstasies and dangers of everyday life, including the act of falling in love, the clowns found on YouTube, the death of a loved one.

The ringmaster for the show is a DJ, orchestrating a tour of reality with live versions of current music by commanding two musicians and eight singers.

Circus of Life is packed with current hits, songs from Broadway musicals, classic songs and lesser-known tunes, all performed live with new arrangements by Craig Salkeld. The show, with a story arc through every act, is conceived, written and directed by Danny Balkwill and choreographed by Maegan Marshall.

SaskExpress has been igniting the talents of Saskatchewan’s young performers for decades. Balkwill is also the artistic director, and is new in the role.
