The City of Estevan has provided an update on the closure of a portion of Fourth Street due to a water main replacement.

Starting on May 25, Fourth Street between Souris Avenue South to Eight Avenue will be closed until construction work has been completed; the closure started with the 800-block of Fourth. This closure is required for a water main replacement. Once complete, a resurfacing project of the entire section of Souris Avenue South to Kensington Avenue will commence.

The roadway resurfacing project will be completed in co-operation with the Ministry of Highways Urban Connector Program.

Water mains were replaced from Eighth Avenue to Kensington Avenue during the previous resurfacing project of Fourth Street years ago.

East and westbound traffic on Fourth Street will be detoured to Third or Fifth Street. Heavy trucks will be directed to use Sixth Street.

Pedestrians will have access to both north and south sidewalks. Cyclists are asked not to enter work zones and use detour routes as indicated by traffic patterns.

The City of Estevan thanks community members for their patience as they complete these important upgrades to improve these critical infrastructure components within the city.
