With COVID-19 related restrictions being eased, many operations slowly come back to normal. The Estevan Fire Rescue Service is also getting back to their regular business inspections that were put on pause due to the pandemic.

“This is a very important initiative that we do on a day to day basis in conjunction with business licences,” said Fire Chief Dale Feser.

Any business that operates within the City of Estevan has to get an annual business licence. To obtain it they need to call the city hall to initiate the process. Annual fire inspections are a part of the licensing process. Regular checks help to ensure that there are no life or fire safety hazards within the occupancies.

“We definitely have our calendar filling up quite quickly there, just getting caught up on the backlog that we had accumulated over the time when we ceased the fire inspection program due to obvious reasons,” said Feser.

The EFRS is now re-engaged in the program and is looking forward to seeing business owners and providing the services necessary.

To have the inspection done, businesses should call the fire station and book an appointment. In order to receive approval from the fire department, businesses first have to take care of any deficiencies found during inspections.
