The Southern Plains Co-op is among those feeling the pinch of a fuel shortage caused by the ongoing labour dispute between Unifor and the Co-op oil refinery.

Messages on the fuel pumps at the co-op’s service station on Fourth Street late Thursday indicated that it was out of regular fuel. The service station was still able to supply premium gasoline and diesel fuel.

The Kensington Avenue location still had regular gasoline as of Thursday afternoon.

Other co-op service stations in western Canada have also been affected by fuel shortages.

On Wednesday, the co-op announced daily product restrictions of 300 litres of diesel and 100 litres of gasoline per card had been imposed at co-op cardlocks across the Prairie provinces.

The Mercury will have more details as they become available.
