Souris-Moose Mountain MP Robert Kitchen welcomed a couple of his colleagues from the Conservative Party caucus to Estevan Thursday to tour several facilities in the area.

Ed Fast, the shadow minister for Environment and Climate Change, and John Barlow, the shadow minister for employment, workplace development and labour, came to Estevan to see the Boundary Dam Power Station and its carbon capture and storage facility, as well as the nearby Aquistore site that stores carbon dioxide, the carbon capture test facility at the Shand Power Station and the Westmoreland Coal Company’s Estevan mine.

The MPs will also meet with the Deep Earth Energy Production Corp. while in Estevan.

“This is a great opportunity to show MP’s Fast and Barlow all of the great work that

SaskPower and others have done with carbon capture at Boundary Dam,” said Kitchen. “I have always felt that carbon capture and storage is the innovative, green solution that we need to combat emissions while still keeping our power plants in use for their functional lifespan.”
