Estevan MLA Lori Carr was the guest speaker at Wednesday morning’s coffee talk session hosted by the Estevan Chamber of Commerce.

Carr, who is also the minister for government relations, the provincial capital commission, and First Nations, Métis and Northern Affairs, spoke to a near-capacity crowd of about 60 people at the Days Inn’s Taylorton Room about some of the issues facing the Estevan constituency and the province, particularly regarding the future of coal in the Estevan area.

She also answered questions from the crowd, many of which focused on maintaining the coal-fired power generation in Estevan and, failing that, the transition to other industries.

Next week’s edition of the Mercury will have more on this story.
