SaskPower has provided an update on the power failure in eastern Saskatchewan, stemming from an ice storm a few days ago.

Crews have made significant progress Sunday, restoring distribution lines and completing temporary reconnects to properties with damaged secondary service lines and service masts.

As of 7:30 p.m. Sunday, SaskPower estimates roughly 20 customers will remain off in the city of Melville due to a combination of damage on the premises being too severe to fix safely at this time and crews having difficulty reaching customers to obtain consent to issue a temporary repair.

Crews were able to restore service to the entire Pasqua district Sunday afternoon, as well as Yorkton rural and the Canora area. That said, if any customers are without power, they are asked to call the SaskPower outage centre at 310-2220.

If any customers come across a downed line, they should remain back a safe distance of at least 10 metres and call the outage centre to report it.

As SaskPower gets closer to having all of its customers’ power restored, the Crown corporation wanted to again thank everyone for their patience. They understand that for some, the power has been out for a while, and crews very much appreciate how patient everyone has been while we clean up following this destructive storm.
