The final portion of King Street that was closed to traffic is now open again.

The arterial road was closed from Pine Avenue to Kensington Avenue in late June to allow for a widening and resurfacing project to proceed. King opened from Pine Avenue to Spruce Drive on Aug. 1, and then it opened from Spruce Drive to the entrance to the Mobil Service Station on Aug. 7.

The final portion, from the Mobil service station to Kensington Avenue, was opened on Aug. 15.

Traffic lines for the road have been painted as well.

The widening and resurfacing of King Street from Pine to Kensington was the top road repair project for the city this year.

Next week's edition of the Mercury will have more on this story.
