One person has been charged following an assault earlier this week. Members arrested and charged a 53-year-old Estevan man June 6 with assault with a weapon and theft under $5,000, after a complaint was received.

Members arrested and charged a 53-year-old Estevan man June 6 with assault with a weapon and theft under $5,000, after a complaint was received. The male was released on conditions and will appear in Estevan Provincial Court in July to answer to the charges.

  • In other recent police news, members are investigating damage to a mailbox in the 900-block of Fourth Street.
  • Officers attended to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle in the Hillcrest area. The vehicle was gone when members arrived.
  • Police received a report of an impaired driver. The vehicle was located and the driver was found to be sober.
  • Members were called to the Trojan Park area for a report of a strange noise. Police located the source and found a crew repairing a natural gas leak.
  • Police received a report of a possible break and enter. Officers responded and determined no one was in the residence and the door had been opened by the strong winds.
  • Members were called to a local business on a report of a possible impaired driver on June 7. Police were able to locate the vehicle and performed a standardized field sobriety test on the driver, who passed the test and was sent on their way.
  • Police were then called to a person trespassing on property. Officers attended and spoke to all the people involved and learned there was a property dispute. Police were able to diffuse the situation and an agreement was made in regards to the property. Members then separated the individuals and no further involvement was required.
  • Officers responded to a complaint of a young child who was left in a vehicle at a business on Kensington Avenue. The child was located safe and her parent returned to the car a short time later. The file will be referred to Social Services.
  • Members stopped a motorcycle on Souris Avenue for speeding. A 70-year-old driver was subsequently issued a 72-hour suspension and the motorcycle was impounded after he blew a warning on an approved screening device.
  • Officers impounded a vehicle for 30 days after a traffic stop on Souris Avenue South and Sixth Street. The driver was found to have had no valid driver’s licence for five years.
  • A 24-year-old Estevan man was charged with assault after a complaint at a local establishment. He was released with conditions for court in July.
  • Police were notified of another scam on April 8. A caller claimed to be with the Publishers Clearing House, and then requested personal information. Police are again reminding the public not to give out personal information to people who say you won money or prizes.
  • Officers also received a call about an intoxicated person having trouble walking on a street. Police were able to locate the person, who was charged for having open alcohol in public. The individual was then given a ride home and turned over to a sober person. No further action was required.
  • Members attended to a complaint of a female screaming in the Hillcrest area. A large group of youths was located and warned of their actions.
  • Officers responded to a complaint of a suspicious male in the Pleasantdale area. The male was not located.
  • Police arrested a 36-year-old Moose Jaw female on outstanding warrants. She was released for court in July.
