The Carlyle RCMP sent out a notification reminding the community to be wary of scams seeking payment of money.

“In the last 24 hours there has been $10,000 lost to scams. These fraudsters may insist for your personal information e.g. social insurance number, banking, or they may insist you have warrant for your arrest if you do not pay a said amount,” says the notification distributed through the Saskatchewan Crime Watch Network.

The fraudsters will request persons to pay the amount in Goggle play cards, bit coins, Visa gift cards, and may request to gain access to the bank account.

People can protect themselves from fraudsters by recognizing the warning signs of their schemes, rejecting their attempts and reporting these suspicious activities to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or online at www.antifraudcentre.ca.
