The icy road conditions kept members of the Estevan Police Service (EPS) busy on Tuesday.

Officers were dispatched to west Estevan on Highway 39 for a report of vehicles unable to move as a result of freezing rain in the morning, which caused very slippery road conditions. The highway was blocked off by police for a short period of time until road crews from the City of Estevan and the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure were able to salt and sand the road surface. No collisions occurred in that area.

There was one other minor collision reported in west central Estevan as a result of the slippery road conditions. Minor damage was sustained and no injuries were reported.

The public is reminded to exercise extra caution with road conditions such as these, especially with the changing seasonal driving conditions.

Members attended to a central Estevan residence Monday regarding a domestic dispute in progress and a possible theft of a vehicle. Upon arrival, police were able to defuse the situation and ascertain that there was actually no theft involved. One of the occupants left the residence without further issue. The matter remains under investigation.

A report came in of suspicious activity at a business in the central part of the city. Members were able to ascertain that it was the owners of the business and officers were not needed.

As a result of investigation into an incident at a school from Oct. 22, a 15-year-old female from Estevan was charged Sunday with assault. She was released on conditions and will appear in court in December to answer to the charges.
