EPS members called to collision at intersection on Thursday

Members of the Estevan Police Service (EPS) and Estevan Emergency Medical Services responded to the report of a vehicle-pedestrian collision in north central Estevan Thursday.

The driver of an eastbound car turned right at the intersection of King Street and Souris Avenue North and collided with a youth who was riding his bike westbound while crossing at the crosswalk. Only minor injuries were reported and slight damage occurred to the bicycle.

The 75-year-old Estevan man was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for failing to yield the right of way to a pedestrian at a crosswalk.

Also on Thursday, a 32-year-old Stoughton man was arrested and charged as a result of a theft of merchandise that occurred at a north Estevan retail store. He is scheduled to make his first appearance in Estevan Provincial Court in December.

Police received a report that individuals were drinking alcohol in a vehicle while getting fuel at a local service station. Members attended and spoke with the individuals. No alcohol was found in the vehicle.

Police received a call regarding a male damaging the windshield of a vehicle. Members attended and observed damage to the vehicle. The male had left prior to members’ arrival. The matter is still under investigation.

Officers responded to a north central residence Wednesday for a disturbance call.  As a result, a 25-year-old Estevan woman was arrested for breaching conditions for consuming alcohol. She was lodged until sober and will be making a court appearance in December.
