EPS members make an arrest for impaired driving, respond to a fraud

A motorist is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop near Estevan on Wednesday night. Members of the Estevan Police Service received a call about a vehicle been driven erratically as it was coming into Estevan.

A motorist is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop near Estevan on Wednesday night.

Members of the Estevan Police Service received a call about a vehicle been driven erratically as it was coming into Estevan. The vehicle was located and a traffic stop was initiated. 

A 39-year-old Roche Percee man was arrested and charged with being under the influence of drug and or alcohol under the Criminal Code, as well as driving while suspended and having open alcohol in a motor vehicle.

He will appear in Estevan Provincial Court in mid-September to answer to the charges.

No further details were immediately released.

Police also received a report of a fraud. The victim received a call saying that in order to claim a winning prize on the STARS Air Ambulance lottery, a fee had to be paid. The victim forwarded money to the caller. The matter is still under investigation. 

Police remind the public that lotteries do not require the winner to pay a fee to claim their prize. Please do not forward any money or give any information to callers of this nature.
