EPS members make arrest for assault with a weapon

Members of the Estevan Police Service (EPS) made an arrest for assault with a weapon and other infractions late last month.

According to information supplied by the EPS on Monday, officers were dispatched to a residence in north Estevan on Friday following a report of a domestic dispute that resulted in an assault.

A male fled the residence, but was soon found and arrested. The 30-year-old Estevan man was transported to the police station where he was lodged in cells pending a court appearance the following morning.

He is charged with assault with a weapon, assault, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and breaching the conditions of a release order.

In other recent EPS news, a traffic stop was made in central Estevan on Thursday that resulted in a 24-year-old Estevan man being arrested for an outstanding warrant and other charges related to breaching the conditions of his conditional sentence order. He was also charged with driving while prohibited, displaying an unauthorized licence plate and operating an unregistered vehicle. He was remanded into custody and will be held until his next court appearance.

Police stopped a vehicle on Wednesday and observed signs the driver had consumed alcohol. The motorist provided a roadside breath sample, was issued a seven-day driving suspension and had his vehicle was impounded.
