The Estevan Police Service (EPS), in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Association of Chiefs of Police, will once again be participating in a province-wide firearms amnesty program this year.

The amnesty program will run from March 25-April 19. During this time, the public is welcome to turn in any unwanted firearms.

The public can bring unloaded firearms and ammunition to the Estevan Police Service building in the 300-block of 11th Avenue. They can also call and arrange for a police officer to attend and pick up the firearms and ammunition up if they are unsure about handling the item(s), their condition or making them safe.

The EPS also reminds the public they cannot walk into the police station with a firearm. For safety reasons, people are asked to attend the front desk and ask for an officer to accompany them to their vehicle to obtain the firearm(s).

If anyone has questions, they can contact the Estevan Police Service and ask to speak with the sergeant on duty.
