EPS receives a variety of calls to start long weekend

Members of the Estevan Police Service handled a variety of calls to start the Labour Day long weekend.

Police were called to a local business Saturday due to an unruly customer. Members found the subject sitting on the floor, consuming merchandise he had not paid for. He was under the influence of alcohol and became belligerent with police. Due to his aggressiveness, he was arrested for public intoxication and held in cells until sober.

Officers received several reports of noise complaints. One of the residents was charged under the noise bylaw when police attended a second time.

Police received a call through the Report Impaired Drivers line in the early evening hours Friday. The caller believed that a patron in a local restaurant was about to drive after consuming alcohol. Police located the vehicle and waited to ensure the driver was not impaired. A short time later police were advised the patron had left with a friend.

Officers received a report of a mischief incident. The complainant stated that some of his property was damaged during a house party. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report Thursday of an individual receiving threatening messages on their message manager. The matter is still under investigation.

Members attended to a disturbance on the east end of Fourth Street. Police were able to mediate a resolution for the evening. Nothing further was reported.

Police attended to a loud stereo in the south end of the city. An individual was playing their stereo loudly and had the window of the residence open. It was disturbing nearby residents. The homeowner was warned under the bylaw.

Officers received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the Hillside area. Police attended to talk to the individual in the vehicle. It was determined the individual was making a telephone call in private in the vehicle rather than in the residence around roommates.
