Estevan police arrest two people overnight

Members of the Estevan Police Service arrested two people in separate incidents during the Aug. 14 night shift. Officers apprehended a 60-year-old man, stemming from a complaint of a theft under $5,000 from a local off-sale business in late July.

Officers apprehended a 60-year-old man, stemming from a complaint of a theft under $5,000 from a local off-sale business in late July. During the arrest, members were alerted to a possible assault involving a female in the residence.

After further investigation, the man is facing two charges for theft under $5,000, as well as for assault and forcible confinement. He was lodged in cells and will be taken in front of a judge or justice of the peace on Aug. 15.

Officers arrested a 41-year-old Estevan man after a complaint on the weekend of a break and enter into a residence. He is facing charges of break and enter to a residence, mischief and uttering threats to do bodily harm. He will also appear in front of justice of the peace or a judge on Aug. 15.

Police received a call regarding a theft of wire from a business in the industrial area during the Aug. 14 day shift. It is not known yet how many spools of wire were taken. The matter is still under investigation.

Members were called to a residence in central Estevan. A baggie with a white powder was located and the caller did not know what it was. Police tested the powder and determined that it was not a controlled substance.

A theft from a local store was reported. A female ran of the store after staff tried to confront her. The staff reported that she likely put items in her purse. The matter is still under investigation.

A Canada Revenue Agency scam was reported. The person calling was threatening to call the police if money was not paid. No information was provided to the person claiming to be from the revenue agency.
