Also on Friday, police were investigating several reports of theft from a local business. Through the investigation, a suspect was identified and apprehended. A 20-year-old Estevan woman was arrested and charged with three counts of theft under $5,000. Police were also able to recover some of the stolen goods. She will appear in Estevan court later in August to answer to the charges.

Officers also received a report of an individual causing a disturbance at a local business. The customer was upset with new procedures that had been put in place due to COVID-19. The matter is still under investigation.

Police received a report of a dog left in a vehicle on Saturday. The owner of the vehicle was located. It was learned that the vehicle was set to turn on and off to engage the air conditioner to ensure the vehicle didn’t get too warm for the dog. Police ask the public to be cautious with leaving animals in vehicles. Even with the air conditioning on, something might malfunction and cause the air conditioning to stop. Animals will be at great jeopardy very quickly due to the interior of the vehicle overheating very quickly.

Earlier in the week, police responded to a Report Impaired Drivers call Monday evening. The vehicle was located on the north end of Estevan. The driver was found to be sober but the vehicle he was driving was not fit for the road. It was towed to a service station parking lot where the owner could get it repaired. A passenger in the vehicle was charged for having open alcohol. He was issued a $360 summary offence ticket as a result.
