Estevan Police make arrests for suspended driving and resisting arrest

Members of the Estevan Police Service were on patrol when they noticed a male who was on court-ordered conditions during the Aug. 23 night shift.
When the male saw the officers he fled on foot. Police were able to track and locate the male, where he was arrested and subsequently resisted arrest. The suspect was taken into custody when other officers arrived on scene to assist and he was taken to city cells. The male faces charges of breaching his conditions and resisting arrest. He will be held for a future court appearance.

Also that night police checked a vehicle for a possible impaired driver, and during the investigation it was learned that the driver was suspended and also wanted out of Regina. The driver was arrested on the warrant and also charged under the Traffic Safety Act for driving while suspended. The driver also blew a “warn” on the roadside screening device and was suspended from driving for three days. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

  • In other recent police news, members were called to a complaint of a possible paving company fraud during the Aug. 23 day shift. The males involved were located and determined to be part of legitimate business canvassing for work. The EPS thanks the public for calling in suspicious people and vehicles.
  • Officers received several reports of hit and run collisions. All are still under investigation.
  • Police also attended to a report of a possible impaired driver. The suspect vehicle was located and the driver found to be driving while suspended. The vehicle was unregistered. The driver will appear in court in November to answer to the charges and his vehicle has been impounded for 30 days.
  • During the Aug. 24 day shift, police received a report of attempted credit card fraud. The complainant didn’t provide any information. A number where the caller was calling from has been identified and the matter is still under investigation.
  • EPS received a report of a disturbance south of the city. The matter was turned over to the RCMP.
  • Members received a driving complaint from a local parking lot. The matter is still under investigation.
  • During the Aug. 25 night shift, members were called to a complaint of a loud party in the 1400-block of Third Street. The homeowner was warned of the bylaw.
  • Officers responded to a report of possible impaired driver entering the city from the north. The vehicle was located and the driver was found to be not impaired, and was warned of his actions.
  • Officers conducted a curfew check on a male on court orders conditions. The male did not answer his door as required and will be charged accordingly.
